A local release of a foreign film from China. My graphics tried to encapsulate the time of the film, and the idea of a child opening up and coming to terms to the world around him. As he tries to do well in class and win the credit of “little red flowers” upon his name like the other kids, he struggles and keeps misbehaving and questioning his world. The papery background and cut out patterns overblown by light creates an old scholastic yet imaginary feel to it, which is important to note the period and place was a communist China during the war.
