A typographic title I designed for a full length documentary film by Shahane Bekarian. A film about how genocide, particularly the one imposed onto the Armenians, has affected the children not only of the time, but also their successive children generations afterwards, and how it can continue to kill a culture on-goingly through dilution.
The decorative type is inspired by religious masonry designs which is inbuilt into the Armenian culture, but then juxtaposed by building it into a modern crisp typeface and brightened up by the colours of the national flag.
The line work reflects a piecing together of families and identity. Distant links around the world that make Armenians whole, while also resembling a shattered effect.
This design was animated for the film, and evolved across to supers, maps etc. I also led the designs for the sales campaign involving T-Shirts, Flyers, and DVDs.
